My work is rooted in materiality. I explore objects and processes that are the result of energy, often in the form of light and color, translated through material. They exist in stasis, paused between what they were and what they will become. These objects describe not only themselves but the actants responsible for their current state marking them both as out of place and the result of larger forces. The materials that I use are often charged, playing with the tension between their natural state and the state created through a form of intervention. These systems are reorganized into materials that are preserved but no longer distinct and no longer what they were. Moving between sculpture, installation and photography, I use the language of color and the object and materials of Los Angeles to piece together a sense of place, both Pre-columbian and manufactured.
