PROJECT: Root is an immersive interactive installation taking the audience through a journey through the lens of a plant. There will be 1-3 potted medium-sized succulents on display. The audience will approach the plant or plants and they are invited to touch the leaves of the plant. Once there’s contact it will trigger a nature sounds and colorful animation will be projection-mapped onto the pot of the plant. The aim of Root is to have the audience have a dialogue with nature.

INSPIRATION: Two years ago when I moved to downtown Los Angeles, I began to have a strong desire for indoor plants. The lack of green in my neighborhood made me feel disconnected from nature, The ability to care for a plant indoors fed this void. Later on, a friend informed me how I wasn’t alone, the sales of indoor plants raised by 300% in recent years since more people are moving to urban areas and have the desire to connect with nature. I found this fascinating and want to explore this desire deeper.
