Painting can be chromatically seductive and contextually unsettling. My project focuses on geological impermanence. The work explores areas of potential and unexpected change due to geological events and climate change. Alluding to the contemporary sublime, iconography and color are used to construct abstract portraits of geological impermanence. Geology, plate tectonics, counting devices, and temporal sequences inform my work.

In recent work, I’ve incorporated hand-painted collage onto the surface of my paintings. The collage source images are my paintings on paper. Some questions I explore in my current work are: How and when does one geological tipping point affect other tipping points of geological change? How does unpredictable change affect temporal and spatial bearings?
